primed.912’s favorite surface is the Ultra. The Ultra is worked on until the canvas grain is completely undetectable. The smoother the surface is, the thinner the paint can be. Having no grain for tiny puddles of pigment to get stuck in, the washes ethereally take over the surface. It provides the tension and smoothness of a panel, but with the mobility of a canvas.
